Rock Climbing Engagement Session : Agassiz Engagement Photographer

So you’re emailing back and forth with a bride-to-be and you’re discussing ideas for engagement photos and you’re envisioning fields full of beautiful long grasses and flowers dancing in a soft spring breeze under the golden sun and you’re excited for the perfectly lit gorgeousness to come. And then your bride-to-be kinda rocks (this is punny, you’ll see…) your world a bit when she suggests having the photos taken during one of their rock climbing excursions and your mind comes screeching to a halt and you’re left wondering and worrying about how you’re ever going to DO something like that. How on earth are you going to pull off a rock climbing engagement session? And you stress a bit about how in the world you are going to take engagement photos of two people hanging off a buncha ropes and climbing a rock wall. Oh, AND, how you’ll be making this happen around noon under the harsh mid day sun. OY! But, because you like your bride-to-bes and because one of your besties who’s also a photographer agrees to watch your kids for the entire day so you don’t feel a rush to get home you say “Suuuure, why the heck not!” and you cross your fingers that something will pretty please just work out 😉 (In full disclosure, they did give me the prettiness I desired during the first part of their engagement session at Agassiz Tulip festival, so we’re definitely still friends. You can see those photos here.)

And then.. you climb a rock wall just to impress your bride and groom to be and you push yourself way, way, WAY outside your comfort zone because you refuuuuse to make a fool of yourself in front of these people you’re really just meeting and getting to know and you end up having the BEST time ever! And you even dream on the way home of when you’ll be able to do it again sometime!

And you feel blessed. You do. Because you’re doing what you love to do, you’re meeting the best people along the way and you’re even going on a few random adventures – which is pretty darn great!
