Abbotsford Portrait Photographer : My Baby Sister

Ok, I’m desperate. I’ll admit it. At 40 weeks and 6 days pregnant I have begun begging people to let me take photos;)I love my clients, I really do, but they are all more concerned about me having a baby then they are about having their photos taken during this beautiful weather. I am, of course, concerned with having this baby too, but have been itching SO bad to get back behind the camera. I may be a little slow getting places these days and might need a help up from the ground but that doesn’t mean I can’t press my shutter button;) One can only take so much time off from something they love before starting to go a bit crazy!!

Enter my sister Chantelle, who’s visiting from Edmonton. She’s not allowed to say no to me right now. Its because I’m overdue and she feels sorry for me, not because she’s scared of me, I promise ;) Regardless, I took advantage of the situation and asked her politley to do her hair and makeup so I could take a few quick photos near some blossoming trees on our street and I’m super glad she obliged! In just under 10 mins she was ready to go and we took a quick stroll across the street. Nothing crazy, nowhere exciting. Just a few random trees in the middle of our neighbourhood and fifteen minutes of shooting time!!  Typically I shoot with my 24-70mm lens, but decided to pull out my very dusty and neglected 50mm to get a different perspective today and I’m happy with the photos overall, even if we were limited in shooting angles because of all the fabulously outdated houses in our neighbourhood;)

You’re beautiful, Chan! Inside and out. Love you ♥

Louise & Appie Get Hitched : Barrhead Wedding Photographer

Its dark outside, as it is here in my “nursery/office” where I’m cuddling my 1 year old even though there’s really not enough room left on my lap due to this ever-expanding bump. I’ve been sitting here for a few minutes now thinking about how to introduce this couple, thinking about what to write that would even begin to express the gratitude I have for the girlie in these photos. She is the one person, outside of family, who has been by my side through thick and thin for the past 22 years of my life and I’m so incredibly grateful for her. Truly. I even get a little choked up thinking about it, though I suppose I’d be better off chalking it up to pregnancy hormones and not giving her the satisfaction of knowing that I accctually like her that much;)

I guess sometimes its ok to not have anything to say, and to just keep the sappy thoughts to yourself. And, come to think of it, I did already write a speech for her wedding so I think she’s gotten enough lovin’ for the next little while. She should, in fact, be leaving ME some love in return, don’t you all think?;)Especially after putting up with her, Appie and their rowdy wedding party’s shennanigans (you’ll see what I mean by the photos below!) for an entire day. Appie is from a good ol’ dutch family, with 13 kids, so family photos took a little longer than normal and after finishing up with that we had only 1.5 hours left to capture the formals and bridal party pictures before heading off to the reception. And with such an energetic group I definitley had my work cut out for me;) Clearly it was a fun day, and I really wanted to showcase that here because it sums up Louise & Appie’s personalities super well. So don’t you fret, not all their photos have goofy faces in them, I promise!;)

Love you, chickadee!

Karen : Trash the Dress Photography

Oh…how I love trash the dress sessions:)Though most of them really can’t be labled as such because the dresses typically still see the end of the session, with only minor additions of water or dirt. I’m still waiting for that bride who legitimately wants to trash her dress, because seriously, could you imagine the fun that session would be!?!?!:)

Karen was one of my beautiful brides from last summer. We took their wedding photos down by the mission bridge shortly after the river had flooded so the grounds were muddy and there were mosquitos EVERYWHERE – AAHH! We all left with red swollen bumps, but Karen was so relaxed and easy going about the whole thing that it didn’t take me a bit by suprise when she waded through mud and icy cold water for her trash the dress session! Despite the rain and grey, cloudy skies we still managed to have fun. Though I guess its easier for me to say since I was bundled up and managed to stay relatively dry the entire time;)Karen, you rcok! I’ve told you once and I’ll tell you again! Thanks so much for putting up with the less than stellar elements that day and for still producing some amazing images!

Enjoy!

Slow Season : A Personal Post

Its slow season for me, and I’m having a rough time not being outside shooting every day. I’m trying my hardest to enjoy the down time, though goodness knows we have enough other side projects going on with a house mid-renovation and baby number 3 on the way. But, starting on those tasks and pretending I have any business decorating a baby nursery just didn’t seem half as appealing as being behind the camera;)Thankfully we saw some blue sky this afternoon, so I took the boys out into the back yard for some fresh air. After a morning spent on eachother’s nerves, I think they welcomed the change of scenery as much as I did. They meandered around our wet, overgrown lawn and I tried my best to find beauty in a yard that is on the list of previously mentioned projects and isn’t all that pretty to look at in its entirety right now!

Hope the start to your week was more productive than mine!;)

Cassie & Adam : Agassiz Wedding Photographer

I feel so grateful to have finished 2012 on such a high note. Cassie & Adam’s wedding took place on 12.12.12 – a fabulously lucky day;) After a few consecutive weeks of rain we weren’t expecting much weather-wise so we were all a liiiiittle thrilled when the clouds cleared up and the sun came out to play:)Cassie & Adam said their I-do’s in a small and intimate ceremony witnessed by family and a few close friends at the stunning Eagle Tree Lodge in Agassiz BC.
